One Year Blogiversary Superlatives

Hey there, party people! We’re shakin our groove thing in honor of the blog’s 1st birthday and today is all about the good, the bad, and the ugly of the past year in blog world. That’s right… SUPERLATIVES! Let’s get right to it.

Most Festive: The explosion of red, white, and blue at our 4th of July table setting. Happy Birthday, America!

Four for the 4th

Most Likely to Star in the Next Hunger Games: This silly youth group game of “What Are the Odds?”. Seriously, this was hysterical- you’ve gotta break this one out at your next family reunion…

Most Technical: This post about installing our shelves in the family room- they’re up and we love them, but boy was that a tough one to document.

Building Shelves in the Family Room

Favorite Trip: By a landslide, our first family vacation to Bethany Beach! Lots of laughs, eating, and adventuring… what could be better? Here was the trip in 7:35 minutes if you’re looking to stroll down memory lane…

Most Commented: The sugar sweet Valentine message hidden in our kitchen gallery wall- we’re feelin’ the love!

Valentine's Day Gallery Wall

Biggest DIY Fail: We tried to build a two sided wall around our air conditioning unit with a few trellises (which worked out nicely!), but the plants that were supposed to grow up it to hide the air conditioner never, well, grew. Might have to look into Plan B!

Adding a Room

Most Detailed: This post about all of the ins and outs of our wedding celebration… the food, flowers, colors, location- it’s all there! This could also qualify for the “Most Treasured” post because it has been great to have a run-down of the little parts of the day all in one place to look back on and I can imagine how nice it will be to have that years and years from now.

Our Wedding

Coldest: Partaking in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!

Most Viewed: A very interesting winner for this one… our review of the Applaro Drop Leaf table that we purchased for the back patio took the crown! Apparently, there are a lot of potential Ikea customers out there. 🙂

Ikea Applaro Drop Leaf TableWordiest: Clocking in at 1548 words, my spiel on taking the holiday season one deep breath at a time won the title for most long winded (see what I did there? 🙂 ).

Least Likely to Get Lost: The giant map we hung in the spare!

Spare Bedroom Map

Shortest Post: Our announcement that Oh, the Fun would be guest posting on another blog- short, sweet, and to the point.

Taken the Longest: By this, I mean that this is the post that took me forever to write- as in, it’s still in the “Drafts”. It’s feature? How we made our bed!

Favorite Photo: This shot of the patio…

Backyard: AFTER

Especially, when we think back to what it used to look like!

Backyard: BEFORE

Most Frustrating: Speaking of patios, the “Most Frustrating” Award goes to our quest to buy the grill and umbrella for said patio. It was… annoying, to say the least. You can read all about it here.

Thrills of the Week: Grill and UmbrellaRoom Closest to Completion: The family room. We’ve logged a lot of hours painting, rethinking, repainting, hanging things, taking them down, hanging other things, etc. BUT, I will say that this room is probably the closest to being finished. Except maybe for the kitchen, which has been “done” for awhile now.

Styling the Shelves in the Family Room

Best Back to School: These care packages that we shipped off to some of our students from the Youth Ministry who had moved and were starting the year in a new school.

Most Shocking Transformation: Definitely the Master Bedroom… let’s just say it used to have green walls and a pink carpet.

Master Bedroom: AFTER

Hardest Post to Write: This one about the Downstairs Bathroom. I don’t know why, but it just sat and sat in my “Drafts” because I couldn’t get myself to finish it! Looking back, I think a big part of the problem was that I was not completely satisfied with the end result. There are a lot of things in there that we would like to change, so posting photos of “progress” that I didn’t really love was tough. But that’s all part of the “keepin’ it real” motto around here, so the post was published and the pictures are up!

Downstairs Bath: AFTER

Most Organized: The Spare room closet! Gift wrapping supplies? Check. Paint stuff? Check. DIY paraphernalia? Check.

Spare Closet Clean Out

Most Embarrasing: When I mistook these peacocks for turkeys! Our church was throwing them away and I hatched (pun alert) brilliant plan to spray paint the “turkeys” and use them as Thanksgiving decor… minutes after the post went up, a friend and colleague called me out on the mistake!! HAH! Oh well, we’re going with it… turkeys they are!

Turkey Makeover

Biggest Slide: This one from my sister-in-law’s birthday bash!

Favorite Post to Write: Easy, breezy beach inspiration… I snapped a lot of pictures on our vaca to Bethany of things that I thought could easily transition into decoration ideas for back at home. It was so much fun to think creatively and put that post together.

house 005WHEW! That’s quite the round up… I forgot how much has happened over the last year! What a fun way to relive it all. 🙂 Thanks for hanging in there for the best and the worst of Oh, the Fun. Blogiversary Week continues TOMORROW with our Winter House Tour (aka. a VIDEO!!!). Until then, have a great day!
