Hey there! I hope you’re having a terrific Tuesday so far! Mitch and I are out and about on our Staycation whirlwind adventure (you can see what we’re up to by following us on Instagram… @lesliethomas921), but I wanted to stop in to say hello and give you a few updates on some of the things happening in our life. You know how time gets away from you? If not, let me remind you… it’s SEPTEMBER 1. Ca-razy, huh?
Life whirs by so quickly sometimes and I have a bunch of random things to tell you, things that don’t make up a full post all on their own, but that I want to remember down the road when reading back. So here we go!
UPDATE #1: Kylie (Mitch’s sister) turned ELEVEN this past August! Let me give you some perspective… I met this kiddo when she was four. FOUR. And now she’s going into 6th grade! I can’t believe it!
We headed down to Delaware to celebrate and it was so stinkin’ fun. Saturday started with a quick breakfast and waiting for Kylie’s friends to show up to the party. Once everyone was there, we went to the local park for Family Fun day… they had tons of things going on, including catch and release fishing for the kids.
It was beautiful weather and the kids loved learning how to fish… all of my days working at summer camp, tying fishing line definitely paid off. 🙂 After that, we headed back to the house for lunch before making our way to the pool for the afternoon. That evening, we showered off the chlorine water before opening some presents and heading out for a night of bowling!
As it just so happens, it was National Bowling Night, so they had the entire bowling alley lit up like they do for Cosmic Bowling and had hired a DJ. We had a blast. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun bowling. We spent the night requesting songs, dancing, singing, and oh yeah… doing a bit of bowling. 🙂 Happy Birthday, Ky!
UPDATE #2: My parents bought the Bay House! The one that I talk about ALL THE TIME here. The one that we all grew up visiting every summer. It was my grandparents and they were selling it, but I’m happy (no, ecstatic) to report that it’s staying in the family so our big clan will be able to continue to enjoy it for years and years to come! I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that someday, my kids will grow up spending their days swimming, boating, and walking to the lighthouse just like I did.
UPDATE #3: On the tails of that, my dad bought a boat! We haven’t been on it yet, but are going to be there over Labor Day weekend, and can’t WAIT to clock some serious time on the water!
UPDATE #4: Last weekend, we drove down to Delaware to surprise Mitch’s dad for his birthday! We headed there on Friday evening, parked up the road, and sneaked in the house (they were at Mitch’s nephew’s team picnic) to await their return. It was a lot of fun surprising him and we had a great day on Saturday walking along the riverfront and having dinner right on the water. What a great way to celebrate!
UPDATE #5: Finally… and you should be excited about this too… I’ve joined forces with a number of other bloggers to host a little fall picture Instagram game! It’ll last for 12 weeks… every week is a new “theme” and all you do is take a picture on Tuesday and tag it with the hashtag (#homeforthefallidays) on Instagram. We’ll then vote to see who’s picture wins and that picture will be feature on all of our IGs on Friday (17 blogs!). Sound like fun? Go check it out and start submitting those pictures! We’re @lesliethomas921 on IG if you’re looking. Have fun!
