Fake Flower Art

Surprise! We escaped to

for the week! And while we definitely have rest and relaxation (and Harry Potter) on the brain, don’t worry- there’s a whole round up of posts coming your way this week. See ya on the other side! πŸ™‚

File this one under “DIY art for under $1”. Remember those frames that make up our Family Room gallery wall? Here’s the super easy how-to of one of my favorites of the bunch…

Fake Flower Art

I am thrilled with the way this one turned out and all it took was a single bloom from a Dollar Store bunch of silk flowers. Well, that and a few other supplies, but really- you could probably do this with things found around your house. Let’s get right to it:

Fake Flower Art

For this project, I used a frame that I already had (spray painted white), a silk flower, a piece of scrapbook paper, some scissors, and some tape. Oh, and a black pen/marker to write the message.

First, cut your scrapbook paper to fit the size of the frame.

Snip the back off of the flower so it will lay as flat as possible.

Decide where you want your flower to be in the frame and if you want a message beside it. I wrote “see how the lilies of the field grow… – Jesus” as a nod to the Bible verse, Matthew 6:28.

Put the whole thing back in the frame and reassemble the backing. Admittedly, I needed reinforcements… it’s not going to lay completely flat, so you may need to bring in the big guns.

DONE! Hang it up and enjoy.

Fake Flower Art

I really love the colors of the petals and turning it into abstract art was a good way to showcase just how pretty it is, without having to fuss with a vase full of them. I much prefer fresh flowers in vases anyway, but this was a great way to capture that color that won’t fade when the real flowers will wilt. Slowly, but surely, we’re filling these frames… no more fake families! Only fake flowers. πŸ™‚
