One + One + One = Three
Could it be? Is another Wedding Week upon us already?! Wow, it’s hard to believe that this Wednesday, we are cashing in on three years of marriage. It was 1,095 days ago that this happened…
Oh my… just looking at that picture makes me teary. Curse you, pregnancy hormones. 🙂 The last three years have been really, really good to us. I say “good” to encompass the joyful moments we have shared, as well as the really hard ones. We’ve had a bunch of both and I am always thankful that God put the absolute best person in my life to walk through this adventure with.
Usually, I share how we celebrated (or are planning on celebrating) another year of marriage, but to be honest… this year is looking a little bit different. For the past month, we have been in hyper drive, getting our house ready for a Baby Bash that happened just this past weekend. It was amazing and all that we could have hoped and dreamed for in celebrating Baby Thomas’s upcoming arrival. We’re still basking in the warm, fuzzy feeling we got from spending a full day partying with tons of friends and family.So that’s what we’ve been up to and we decided that for this year, we’re going to celebrate our actual anniversary next month, when we can actually focus on it and decide on what we want to do. Perhaps I’ll check back in come October with a quick recap of how we ended up commemorating. For this week, we’ll probably stick to cooking up a Blue Apron meal (we LOVE the one week a month that our subscription comes), relaxing at home, and opening up the rest of the baby gifts we haven’t gotten to open yet. 🙂
Another thing we’ve always done is bribe a friend or family member to take a few portraits to remember each year by. We were so thankful to one of our Youth Group students who asked if she could bring her camera to the party this weekend and document with pictures and videos (um, HELLO? someone agreeing to capture memories so we could actually enjoy the party? YES PLEASE!). She ended up snapping a few of the two of us and now we have some “Year Three” photos out of the deal too! Thanks, Laur. 🙂
And, of course… an actual depiction of our relationship and inability to maintain seriousness for any longer than a few minutes… 😉
It’s kind of neat to think that we are celebrating three years and that we’ve captured most of those three years here on the blog. You guys have seen a lot of our lives. While it’s been mostly house stuff, we’ve also documented family vacations, holidays, small daily life moments, and big life changes. Not only is this our third anniversary, it’s also our third “Wedding Week”… the week where we dust off the photo albums and take a trip down memory lane to September 21, 2013. Even though Mitch and I have opted to celebrate next month, it’s still Wedding Week around here and I’ve got a few things in the works for this week that I’m excited to share! You’ll get to see some DIY decorations that helped to make our tented reception wonderfully dreamy, a unique “house-crashing” post of the BEAUTIFUL beach house the girls stayed in the night before and got ready in the morning of, plus a few more fun posts to round out the week. So hang on to your party hats people, because our third annual Wedding Week is in full swing!
