Remember that show?! What a throwback. 🙂

It’s a mini-update day! This one happened awhile ago, but I never got around to actually showing you! The shame. Let me orient you first… here’s what’s been going on in there, bookshelf-wise over the last few years. First we started with a few shelves stacked in a pyramid shape.

After ditching one of the shelves and moving things around, we created a mini “office”, surrounding the desk with two of the bookshelves.

Another room switch up left us with those same two shelves sitting end to end, right under the window.

That worked well, except that they sat unevenly on the carpet and they had a backing, which meant that we couldn’t access the outlet behind them. And in the spirit of honesty, this is the messy and cluttered look they sported most of the time… #reallife 😉

So we decided to nix both of the shelves in favor of a clean-lined, white Kallax shelf from Ikea!

The open back makes it so we can reach through and get to the outlet, and the dividers help to organize the mess of books in there. In a stroke of organization inspiration, I went through and sorted all of the books by color (taking the book jackets off many of them) and re-arranged the shelves. Here’s what she’s looking like today!

Doesn’t it look so much more fun and organized now?

At some point, I’ll get around to putting something on the top… maybe a collection of frames? A lamp and a tray? For now, I love how clean and orderly it makes the whole room feel. Just like a mini library!
