Update: You might notice that a few things look different on the blog these days… we’re in the process of a remodel and a restructure! While this is exciting, it has also resulted in a lot of technical difficulties that we’ll be trying to iron out all week (read: lots of headaches and support forums). One of those “bumps” may be that you are no longer receiving posts directly to your email. If that is the case, all you have to do is re-subscribe with your email and we’ll get you back on the list. Sorry for the inconvenience! More details on upcoming changes as we figure it out… for now, let’s get to the good stuff 🙂
Our celebration of all things fall has been in full swing here at the Thomas house…
It’s been fall for quite some time now, but I realized that I never showed you what’s going on outside our front door! We consider this to be our Fall Welcoming Committee…
All it took were some pumpkins, a chalkboard, and a wreath . The pumpkins we got from this excursion and we decided that we were going to forgo the carving this year in the hopes that they would last longer throughout the season. Check out this post for a non-carving alternative to Halloween-y pumpkin decor. So anyway, we went with the orange, pink-ish, white pumpkin combo for the door because we figured it could tie in nicely with our end-of-summer wreath, but also the new fall foliage one.
The wreath did not come like this, but I would not go as far as to say that I did it all on my own. Let’s call it semi-DIY. I found the twig wreath at a thrift store and a fall leaves/flowers/foliage swag at the Goodwill. All it took was a few twist ties to attach it where I wanted on the wreath and then I topped it off with a gold bow and called it finished.
The chalk board (first seen in this post) turned out to be one of our favorite parts of the ensemble- simple, sweet, and happy. To create the text, I Googled “fall fonts” and chose two that I liked the best. From there, I just copied what I saw onto the chalk board and added some hay and swirly decals.
And that’s really all there is to our front porch get-up. It’s not super elaborate, but it definitely makes us smile every time we come home… and that’s good enough for us!
Happy Fall, everyone!
