Ok, friends… I’ve owed you this post for weeks, so here it is! A festive table setting for this time of year. I like this one because it’s simple, it worked for Christmas, but it’s not so Christmas-y that it can’t transition into general winter. As proven by the fact that it’s still sitting on our kitchen table. 🙂
All I did was throw a few dark, woven place mats under our white dishes and add some wine glasses and silverware to round out the functional part of the setting. For the decor, I took a roll of burlap and cut a piece a bit longer than the length of the table before twisting the ends to make the curly look. After that, I just plopped a mini pine tree into a tin pot and stuck it in the middle of the table, flanked by two red votive candles. Bam, festive. 🙂
Now onto those napkin rings! Remember this wreath?
I was able to use up some of the leftovers to make a few easy napkin rings to top off the look… here’s the quick how-to:
Step 1: You’ll need four felt leaves, a sprig of faux berries, some twine, an elastic (I just used a brand new hair elastic), and a hot glue gun.
Step 2: Crease two of the leaves by adding a line of glue in the center and folding them in half.
Step 3: Make a “V” of hot glue on the bottom of a third leaf and attach the two creased leaves to each side of the “V”.
Step 4: Glue the sprig of faux berries in the middle.
Step 5: Glue the final leaf on top to cover the “stem”.
Step 6: Wrap the end with twine, adding a (new) hair elastic or rubber band to the back with a knot. Finish it off with a bow in the front.
Step 7: Use the hair elastic to secure the napkin ring around the napkin.
And there you have it! A winter-y look using things around the house and few pretty leftovers!
Psst… Come back tomorrow for the HUGE (and first ever!!) VIDEO of our Christmas and New Year’s Recap! Everyone always asks what we do over the week of Christmas and how we break up the time between three families, so all vacation long, I was wielding my phone and shooting videos and it is finally edited into our first ever VLOG! Coming your way tomorrow, so stay tuned. 🙂
Back in April, we said we wanted to begin posting again like we used to…
