V.A.L.E.N.T.I.N.E.

How are those Valentines coming? Have you started yet? Hah! Me neither.

So here’s the thing- I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. I don’t hate it, but it’s not something I get over-the-moon excited for either. HOWEVER, I am thoroughly excited for today’s easy Valentine-y decoration. It made an appearance in our house last year and we liked it so much, I decided to bring it back this year! Here it is:

Valentine's Day Gallery Wall

For those of you just now joining us, let’s get you oriented. This arrangement resides in our kitchen, which you can read about here and here. One of our favorite kitchen projects was dreaming up and hanging this gallery wall. The best part about these frames is that they have served as interchangeable decor too… we dress these babies up for all sorts of holidays (check out the fall look here)! Today’s project is super easy and can be created if you have an assortment of nine frames anywhere in your house. Here’s the how-to breakdown for ya:

Kitchen: AFTER

Step 1: Find an assortment of nine frames in your house to work with. Don’t have nine hanging on the wall? Here are some alternatives:

  • Grab 9 smaller frames to arrange side-by-side on a mantel, buffet, table, etc.
  • Use a different word or phrase to accommodate less frames (ex. “Be Mine” for 2 frames, “I Love You” for 3, “Circle Yes or No” for 4, etc.)
  • Make smaller versions of each letter (think postcard size), grab a piece of twine and a few clothes pins and create a banner by clipping each letter to the string (like a bunting). Hang the banner anywhere you’d like!

Step 2: Grab 9 different pieces of scrapbook paper. I chose ones that had a pink, red, purple theme, but were not overly Valentine’s-y.

Step 3: On each paper, write one letter, spelling out Valentine (or whichever word/phrase you’re using).

Step 4: Replace whatever used to be in your frames with your new letter art.

Step 5: Hang them so they spell the word correctly, stand back, and enjoy!

See? A super simple and subtle way to add a little Valentine flair to your space. Last year (which is actually when these pictures were taken), I had some of the girls from the Youth Ministry over for a Valentine’s Day brunch. It was so funny to watch them slowly realize throughout the morning that there were Valentine’s Day decorations hidden around the house.

What is your take on Valentine’s decor? Do you go all out? Completely ignore the day all together?

What an awesome idea especially since you already have it all set up. Super creative. I don’t really get into Valentine’s Day either. I am really trying but have yet to hang any decor. I am more into making cards and fun little gifts. Thank you for sharing!

Super cute! Decorating is always fun, I just don’t always get around to doing it for Valentine’s Day. My kids like to lend a hand in that area though. I’m joining you over from the Raising Homemakers Link up.

What a fun and cute idea! Loved the papers you used. Oh me, I am a big romantic at heart and love Valentines. Don’t care about getting a gift, but just spending time with my hubby. I have always decorated for it. Also, my youngest son was born on Valentines Day. How can I not love it? lol! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
