Obviously, winter is upon us. In the spirit of the snow storm that’s coming our way (any other NE people out there?), we’ve got a wintry post for ya today. I’m happy as a clam with the impending doom snow- it could snow every single day of winter and I’d be in heaven. 🙂 But we won’t go there because it seems to annoy people when you tell them that you love snow… so I keep my thoughts on the matter to myself for the most part. Hah! Anyway, I realized that we did major work in packing up the back patio for the winter (way back in the October/November time frame) and I haven’t breathed one word of it. Sheesh. So, in it’s prime, the patio/backyard space looks like this:
But lately…
Different, huh? Yeah, we packed her up and shoved her in a closet for the season… which closet, you ask, could possibly hold almost all of our patio furniture? None that are inside the house, but we have a small storage unit that comes with our property that we utilized for this project. Here are the things we did to winterize everything for Jack Frost:
1. Break down and clean the table.
2. Wipe down and store the benches.
3. Fold up and store the reclining chairs.
4. Cover and move the grill to the bench patio. This has actually been quite nice because we still use the grill, even in the winter, and it’s handy to not have to pull it out from under the tree. The other reason we move it out from under the tree is to make room for other things…
5. Stack and move the black chairs under the tree. The pine tree has really come in handy for this, being that it’s basically like a huge umbrella.
6. Move all other things under the tree (bar cart, fireplace, etc.). Again- thankful for our umbrella tree.
7. Pack up the patio umbrella (if you buy one, make sure to save the bag!!!) and store it in the hall closet.
So about that other “closet” where most of the furniture has been moved to… here’s how we packed it:
As much as I love the snow, it will be exciting to bring everything back out and restore the patio to its prettier days. But let’s live in the moment, shall we? Bring on the blizzards, baby. 🙂
Psst! Read Part 1 here! I’m baaaaaaack. Happy to see me? I guess…

Hi there! I’m thinking of buying the Applaro table but worry about storing it in the winter (we don’t have a lot of space!). It looks like you took the table apart and were able to store it flat, is that correct? And if so, did you find it at all difficult to re-assemble in the spring? Do you feel it lost any stability/integrity by being taken apart and put back together? Thanks for the post!

Hey Meredith! We had the same predicament… not a whole lot of storage space. You are able to take the legs off and store it flat… all it is is a few twists of the Allen Wrench to get the legs off and then back on again. Super easy! We don’t feel like we lost any stability after disassembling and reassembling and we’ve done it a few times now. Hope this helps!
