Get Otto-Here, Man

Any guesses what this post is about? Yep, you got it- ottomans! So we’ve got two in our Family Room…

And they are awesome (large and comfy), but they have one shortcoming… there is no secret storage inside of them. I know, I know- we can’t be picky, especially when it comes to an awesome deal on the furniture set we got (thank you, Habitat Restore). BUT, we have rules in this house. One of them is that things have to be able to do more than one thing.

When you live in a smaller space, you gotta get creative and utilize each and every opportunity for storage and function. Actually, it’s kind of like solving a puzzle- how do we best use our space for as many things as possible? Which got us thinking- as much as we love those big, squashy ottomans, they take up a lot of space and don’t do much more than provide a place to put our feet up and extra seating in a pinch (which, admittedly, is very helpful in and of itself). So I started looking for something with similar functions, but with extra additional storage included. Don’t worry- we’re not throwing the ones we have out; they’ll probably just get relocated to another room or maybe to my office for additional seating there.

As it turns out, Target is having a deal on storage ottomans and after some searching around on their website (and comparing prices with HomeGoods, Wayfair, Joss and Main, etc.) I came across these round, tufted gray ones:

They have a little bit of a smaller footprint to them, can still serve the same purposes that our current ones do, and have removeable lids that reveal hidden storage space! Hooray. We’re going for it- our order has already been placed for two of these cuties and they are currently en route a nuestra casa. So stay tuned for how they look and if they end up making the cut. 🙂 I mean, can’t you just picture an adorable round ottoman in place of the over-sized square…?

With luck, this will be our fastest project-to-blog turn around to date! So regardless of if they stay for good or get the boot back to the store, you’ll be the first to know. 🙂
